Article published in Gerente magazine The Bella Flor Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in may 2003, which promotes the integral development of the children of Bella Flor and Paraíso neighborhoods in Ciudad Bolívar, Bogotá. The voluntary work performed by the economist Carolina Guzmán, director and co-founder, along with that of other young people, benefitiates at present 106 children with ages between 2 and 17 belonging to more than 50 households of a marginalized sector of Bogota. They have designed and implemented the Plan Padrinos –the sponsors’ plan- in nutrition, education and health care for the children of the neighborhoods as well as a resource mobilization strategy with individuals and firms for sponsoring these children. The Foundation counts on the support of 60 individuals and legal entities as well as the work of 35 volunteers. In the Foundation the local journal Creando Ciudad –creating city- and the foundation’s website are edited. |
